Empowering lasting lifestyle habits
My Story
I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and stay thin forever. My metabolism had always kept me effortlessly slim - until it didn’t.
After two kids and years of poor habits catching up with me, I stood on the scale at 208 pounds. At my routine physical in 2013, my doctor delivered the news: I was obese and approaching morbid obesity. I had gained 65 pounds, was buying clothes six sizes larger, and somehow hadn't fully realized the extent of the damage. My knees, feet, and back hurt constantly. I had adult acne and eczema, slept poorly, terrible gut issues, and worst of all - I didn't have the energy to keep up with my own children.
My doctor offered no guidance. No real solutions beyond "eat less, move more." I was left to figure it out on my own.
So I tried everything - fad diets, restrictive programs, quick fixes. I had some success, but nothing was sustainable. In 2015, I found out I was pregnant with my third child and decided to have the healthiest pregnancy I could with the knowledge I had. I stayed active and maintained my energy throughout the entire pregnancy - proof that some of what I was learning was working.
But after my daughter was born, I still struggled. The real turning point came in 2017 when an allergic reaction to a medication caused a gallbladder attack. I was told to change my diet while I healed. Within days, I felt dramatically better. Not just my gallbladder - everything felt better. That's when I realized: inflammation was at the root of nearly every symptom I'd been dealing with.
That moment sparked my passion for understanding inflammation, gut health, and the healing power of food.
I've lost and kept off 70 pounds. I've eliminated my chronic bloating, eczema, and adult acne. I've shifted my mindset, gained energy, dramatically reduced anxiety, and healed my gut.
I live in North Carolina with my husband, three kids, two cats, and our dog. When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me on the tennis court - the sport I learned after my transformation that I now compete in with energy I hadn't felt since my teenage years.
Why I Created
AP Well Plan
As a registered nurse with a bachelor's degree from UNC Chapel Hill, I was frustrated that my medical training hadn't prepared me to solve my own health crisis. The standard advice - calories in, calories out - wasn't working. Generic wellness programs didn't account for bio-individuality. Expensive food sensitivity tests were unreliable.
I created AP Well Plan because I know what it's like to:
Be dismissed by your doctor with no real solutions
Try program after program without lasting results
Feel like your body is working against you
Not understand WHY you can't lose weight or feel good
I help women identify their specific inflammation triggers through evidence-based methods and personalized support - not guesswork, not restriction, not another one-size-fits-all approach.
My Approach
Address root causes instead of just symptoms
Understand that what works for one person may not work for another
Make sustainable lifestyle changes, not temporary fixes
Have support and accountability throughout the journey
